Quiet Luxury, Rooted in Warmth: A Remodel in NE Ohio
year: 2024
type: residential
designer: S. Flynn Home
style: vintage, soft, cozy
When we were invited to reimagine this home, the vision was clear: create a space that felt both grounded and elevated—where comfort meets craftsmanship, and nothing is overworked.
The moment you walk in, the tone is set. A vintage runner layered over wide-plank oak floors leads you to a custom glass-paneled doorway—fluted for softness, framed in white and warm wood. It’s a gesture that hints at what’s beyond: a home where transitions are designed as thoughtfully as the rooms themselves.

In the heart of the home, the living room unfolds with quiet layers. This is a great example of how to re-space plan a living room to accommodate a fireplace, a large TV, and the main traffic way. A caramel-toned sofa, tonal pillows, and rich wood accents echo the landscape outside, bringing a natural warmth to the space. Everything here was chosen with intention—from the low-profile coffee table to the vintage art that feels like it’s always belonged. Pro-Via windows allowed a new amount of daylight to enter the space. This isn’t a showroom moment—it’s a livable, loved-in home.
To anchor the space and offer both function and charm, we added a full library wall. Floor-to-ceiling built-ins now stretch along one side of the room, offering storage for books, collected objects, and the kind of pieces that tell a family’s story. The wife/mom is an avid reader and candidly mentioned she would love a little bookcase and library moment if possible, we were happy to make it happen!
Living Spaces that Breathe

Corners Made for Stillness
02.
What was once a closed-off wall separating the living room from the fireplace was removed, opening the space and allowing a natural flow between the two. A sculptural, cloud like chair now sits by the window, creating a cozy nook that feels both connected and serene.
Material Drama, Delivered with Restraint
03.
In the primary bath, we went bold with stone. Large-format Calacatta Viola tile wraps the walls, tub, and ledge in expressive veining that turns every soak into a moment. Matte black hex tile underfoot keeps it grounded. It’s equal parts spa and sculpture—dramatic, but never cold. A book and candle at the ready make it clear: this space is used, loved, and lived in.
Adding warmth and softness to the mix, arched oak vanities bring a tailored, furniture-like feel to the room. The subtle curve of the arches adds visual rhythm while the natural wood tones balance the boldness of the stone—proving that high design can still feel deeply warm and comforting.
In contrast, the kids’ bath was designed with simplicity and real-life function in mind. Clean lines and clever details—like a built-in step stool that slides out from the vanity—make the space feel effortless and approachable. Soft green walls add a gentle pop of color, bringing playfulness without overwhelming the room. It’s a space that grows with the family, balancing practicality with a sense of charm.
